Daniel started the Functional Metabolomics Lab as an independent Junior Research Group in 2021. Before, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of metabolomics at the University of California San Diego and as a PhD student in biochemistry at the Technical University Berlin. Before this, Daniel studied biotechnology at the University of Applied Science in Darmstadt and at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
Marcelo Navarro Díaz
Marcelo joined the group as a postdoctoral researcher in 2022 in a joint position with the Link Lab. He holds a bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he is also did his PhD in microbial ecology.
PhD Student (DAAD fellow)
Sibgha joined the group as a PhD student in 2022. Sibgha holds a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the Hazara University and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Quaid-i-Azam University.
Karo joined the group as master student in 2022. She studies microbiology in her master's prgram at the University of Tuebingen and holds a bachelor's degree in molecular medicine from the University of Ulm.
We are part of a larger team
The lab is actively engaged in multiple larger collaborations and consortia, including the Virtual Multi-Omics Lab (V-MOL), the GNPS computational mass spectrometry community and the CMFI Cluster of Excellence.
Postdoctoral Researcher (MSCA fellow)
Paolo joined the group in 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher. He reseived his PhD student in cellular and molecular biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Before this, Paolo obtained his master's degree in biology from the University of La Laguna and the University of Palermo, where he also got his bachelor's degree in environmental science.
Abzer Pakkir Mohamed Shah
Abzer joined the group for her PhD studies in 2022. Abzer holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College and a Master's degree in Medical Photonics from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
Stelio joined the group for his master project in 2021, which he conducts jointly under the co-supervision of Dr. Arnaud Kengmo Tchoupa in the department of infection biology. Stilianos studies biochemistry at the University of Tübingen where he also obtained his bachelor before.
Tilman joined the group as a joint master student between us and the Kappler Lab in 2022. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Tuebingen, where he currently also studies microbiology for his master's.
