Daniel Petras
Principal Investigator

Daniel started the Functional Metabolomics Lab as an independent Junior Research Group in 2021. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of metabolomics at the University of California San Diego and as a PhD student in biochemistry at the Technical University Berlin. Before this, Daniel studied biotechnology at the University of Applied Science in Darmstadt and at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Abzer Pakkir Mohamed Shah
PhD Student

Abzer joined the functional metabolomics for her PhD studies in 2022. Abzer holds a bachelor's degree  in Biomedical Engineering from the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College and a Master's degree in Medical Photonics from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

Stilianos Papadopoulos-Lambidis
Master's Student

Stilianos joined the functional metabolomics for his master project in 2021, which he conducts jointly under the co-supervision of Dr. Arnaud Kengmo Tchoupa in the department of infection biology. Stilianos studies biochemistry at the University of Tübingen where he also obtained his bachelor before.

We are part of a larger team

The lab is actively engaged in multiple larger collaborations and consortia, including the CMFI Cluster of Excellence, the GNPS computational mass spectrometry community and the COST action EpiLipidNET

Paolo Stincone
Postdoctoral Researcher

Paolo joined the Functional Metabolomics Lab in 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher. He worked as PhD student in cellular and molecular biology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Before this, Paolo achieved his master's degree in biology at the University of Palermo and at the University of La Laguna. He also got his bachelor's degree in environmental science at the University of Palermo.

Albert Hernandez
Research Engineer

Albert joined the Functional Metabolomics Lab as a research engineer in 2021 after he graduated from the University of California San Diego with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Albert works on the development of mass spectrometry interfaces for real-time analysis and hyphenated applications.

Khoi-Si-Dan Le
Bachelor's Student

Khoi joined the functional metabolomics for his bachelor project in 2022. Khoi studied Molecular Medicine before he started his current studies in Computer Science and Philosophy at the University of Tübingen.
