The Functional Metabolomics Lab, part of the Department of Biochemistry at the University of California Riverside and the CMFI Cluster of Excellence at the University of Tuebingen, aims to understand and control microbial communities. The group, led by Daniel Petras, combines a multidisciplinary approach at the interface of analytical chemistry, chemical biology, and microbial ecology.
Planetary Health = Human Health
The lab's science mission is to develop and apply bioanalytical tools to determine the role of small molecules in complex ecosystems. Our goal is to contribute to a better understanding and mitigation of global challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, sustainable agriculture, and planetary health.
