We are incredibly proud to share that Abzer, the first PhD student from our lab successfully defended her PhD thesis last Friday.

Abzer’s PhD work was dedicated to developing computational metabolomics tools to better understand chemical exchange in microbial communities, with a particular focus on drug–microbiome interactions.

Perfectly timed with her defense, we are excited to share that Abzer’s second thesis chapter is now available as a preprint on bioRxiv. The computational workflow introduced in this work is openly available through the GNPS2 ecosystem at chemprop.gnps2.org, where it can be used to prioritize biotransformations and other (bio)chemical reactions across biological and abiotic systems.

Congratulations again, Abzer an outstanding first PhD from the lab, and an exciting foundation for many future collaborations and discoveries to come!
