Led by Nike Wagner, we used our native metabolomics setup to shed new light onto the function of the CutA protein. We screened cell extracts from the cyanobacterium Synechococcus, for interaction with the homotrimer CutA, which can be found across the tree of life. Our results identified pteridines, to be ligands which enhances CutA copper binding and redox balance.
